I am at the end of my class in Digital Marketing Fundamentals and have learned many great things! The course was a lot of individual research, unlike the previous class, but I was able to choose what I wanted to focus on within a particular topic. This kept me engaged and motivated to learn more about marketing fundamentals.
In the beginning of my journey, I thought that I would be able to work with Shop Dine Play Athens and implement strategies learned here. However, this business did not meet some requirements so I had to find another. Remarkably, I walked into Downtown Donuts and asked the owner to work with him and he immediately said yes! It just goes to show how being professional and prepared can open up new doors.
The class allowed me to broaden my view of digital marketing fundamentals to more than just social media and email marketing. For example, retargeting was something I had seen many times before but did not understand how or why. Now I do, and will implement this into the business I have chosen to work with, and my goal is to not be creepy. Another great tool I learned of was Sprout Social. This platform is a great tool to monitor online engagement, social media, and respond to consumers!
My expectations of this class were different from what I really learned. I thought that I would be able to read about successful trends, but instead I researched and learned how different techniques can improve the visibility of a website and encourage consumers to return. Also, not everything revolves around social media, but it is a large factor. The most important goal I had in this class was to learn how to influence my target market through new content or campaigns. Now, I realize that it is not the same for every company. This class has given me the tools and knowledge on how to influence a market but it is up to me figure out what works for the business. It is different for everybody.
